About Us
The Beckenham Concert Band is a community band performing in the Beckenham and Kent areas and throughout the South East including central London. We play an extensive repertoire of music suitable for formal concerts and fun events such as Fetes, Shows and Charity events.
The Beckenham Concert Band was founded in 1977 by Ken Messenger. After 25 successful years Ken retired from conducting and was elected as Band President, a position that he actively fulfilled up to his passing in October 2008. Over the years the Band has gone from strength to strength and now has over forty regular members from all walks of life including lawyers, engineers, caterers, students and those who have retired.
The Band performs regularly, averaging around ten concerts per year. Many performances are in aid of local charities. During the summer the band is fortunate to play in delightful settings such as Hever and Dover Castles, Outwood Village and Coolings Nursery. We also visit the bandstands in the Royal Parks, Southwark Park and on the seafront at Eastbourne. The Beckenham Concert Band has also been invited to perform at corporate and national charitable events for organizations such as The Children's Society, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Sodexo.
